Archer Watches as Akash Deep Lifts One Over the Rope

It happened on the very first ball of the 116th over. Archer, trying to bowl on the pads, missed his length slightly.

Akash Deep picked it up quickly and flicked it over deep backward square leg. The ball cleared the boundary comfortably and gave India some bonus runs at the end.

The six surprised everyone, including Archer, and drew big cheers from the Indian dressing room.

Jadeja Leads Fightback Before Late Flourish

Before Akash Deep’s cameo, Ravindra Jadeja played a key role in holding the innings together. He scored 72 off 131 balls and stitched two valuable partnerships, first a 72-run stand with Nitish Reddy and then a 50-run stand with Washington Sundar.

Reddy scored a patient 30 off 91 while Sundar added 22. KL Rahul was the star of the day earlier. He brought up his 10th Test century and second at Lord’s before falling soon after.

His stand with Rishabh Pant was crucial as the two added 141 runs for the fourth wicket. Pant made a fluent 74 before getting run out by Ben Stokes.

India were eventually all out for 387, matching England’s total.
