IND vs ENG: KL Rahul Shocks Everyone by Defending Duckett and Crawley After Lord’s Drama

KL Rahul supports Duckett and Crawley after Lord’s spat, says last-over delay was "part of the game".

The final moments of Day 3 at Lord’s saw tension flare between the Indian players and England’s opening duo, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett.

India were eager to squeeze in an extra over before stumps, but Crawley and Duckett appeared to slow things down.

That didn’t sit well with Shubman Gill and others, and things got heated, with Gill even hurling an expletive at Duckett.

But not everyone in the Indian camp was upset. KL Rahul, who scored a fine hundred earlier in the Test, chose to see things from the other side.

In the post-day media conference, the senior batter said he understood why Duckett and Crawley took their time in the last over.

“Part of the game,” said KL. “As an opening batter, I can understand what happened in the last five minutes.”

Back in Form at the Top

Rahul also spoke about his batting in the series. Promoted back to the top of the order after a long time, the Karnataka batter has looked solid.

“Batting at top of the order feels good. Happy that I am using the opportunity,” he said.

Rahul has scored 336 runs in the series so far, and his calm presence at the crease and in press conferences is proving to be just as valuable as his runs.

With two Tests still to go, India will hope both his bat and his maturity continue to shine.
