IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Frustrated Mohammed Siraj Snaps at Joe Root After KL Rahul Drops Sitter: “Yes, Take Your Time”
Mohammed Siraj vents frustration after KL Rahul drops catch, sarcastically tells Joe Root “take your time” during delay
Mohammed Siraj had a rough morning on Day 2 at Lord’s, and things reached a boiling point after a dropped catch and a delayed over left him visibly fuming.
The trouble began when Jamie Smith edged a regulation ball to second slip, where KL Rahul put down a sitter. Siraj stood in the middle of the pitch, hands on hips, shaking his head in disbelief.
To make things worse, Joe Root, who had just brought up his 37th Test hundred, delayed Siraj twice during the very next over. First came a sight-screen issue, and then Root stepped away again to clear some debris behind him.
Siraj, now boiling over, couldn’t hide his frustration. As Root stepped away again, he muttered loudly,
“Yes, take your time.”
The sarcasm was clear. The cameras caught it, and social media lit up with reactions. Some fans backed Siraj’s frustration, others felt the moment added to the drama of an intense Test match.
Root, meanwhile, had just converted his overnight 99 into a gritty 104, playing a steady hand after two lean Tests. It was far from the usual “Bazball” style, and came despite Ben Stokes struggling with injury, barely able to run singles the previous evening.
But Root’s stay didn’t last much longer. Shortly after the incident, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed him for 104, getting him for the 11th time in Tests. The delivery was classic Bumrah pitched up, shaped in slightly, and hit the top of middle after catching Root’s inside edge.
Bumrah struck again the very next ball, trapping Chris Woakes for a duck.
