BCCI Officially Cancels Tour to Bangladesh Amidst Political Tension

India's tour of Bangladesh cancelled due to rising political tension; BCCI not sending team amid strained relations

India’s white-ball tour to Bangladesh has been called off. The decision is final, and while an official statement is expected soon, it will be described as a “deferment by a year.”

According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI has decided not to send the team due to the current situation between the two countries. India was scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is in Bangladesh.

The real reason behind the cancellation, as understood, is the political tension between the two nations. Though the official statement will avoid direct mention, it is clear that the tour will not take place because of the strained relations.

The first clear sign came when the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) paused the sale of its media rights. The technical bidding was set for July 7, followed by financial bidding on July 10. But all activity has now been stopped.

The mood in India is also not in favour of sending a team to Bangladesh at the moment, which made the BCCI’s decision easier. There is no fresh plan or rescheduled date announced yet. As things stand, the tour will not happen this year.
