Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting shared a special moment with his son Fletcher William Ponting during a net session in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025.
Ponting, who is the head coach of Washington Freedom, was seen helping his son during practice and even turned water boy for him.
Ponting Watches Son Bat During Practice
During Washington Freedom’s practice session, Fletcher, wearing his full cricket gear, came out to bat in the nets. Glenn Maxwell helped him with throwdowns, and Fletcher impressed everyone with his clean shots and batting technique.
Ricky Ponting stood nearby, watching closely. He gave Fletcher small batting tips and looked very proud.
At one point, he was seen offering water to his son, a simple and sweet moment that fans loved. The clip went viral on social media.
Washington Freedom In Great Form
Washington Freedom, under Ricky Ponting’s coaching, are doing very well this season. They recently defeated Los Angeles Knight Riders in a last-ball thriller held in Dallas.
With that five-wicket win, Freedom moved to second place on the points table with 10 points in 6 matches. Ponting is having a great run as a coach in 2025.
He already took Punjab Kings to the final in IPL 2025, where they narrowly lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Now, with Freedom, Ponting will be aiming to go all the way and lift the MLC 2025 trophy.
