“False News”: BCCI Shuts Down Rumours of India Pulling Out of Asia Cup 2025
BCCI has denied all rumours about India pulling out of the Asia Cup 2025, calling the reports completely false.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rejected all media reports claiming that India will pull out of the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 and the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup. The board called the reports completely false and baseless.
Several news outlets had earlier said that India had informed the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) about its decision to skip both tournaments. The Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup is scheduled in Sri Lanka next month, while India is supposed to host the Men’s Asia Cup in September.
However, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saika has cleared the air. He said that no such decision has been discussed or communicated. In a statement to PTI, he said:
“Since this morning, we have seen news reports claiming BCCI has decided not to participate in the Asia Cup and the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup. These reports are completely false. No such discussions have taken place within the BCCI, nor has any communication been made to the ACC.”
He further added that the BCCI is fully focused on the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and the upcoming men’s and women’s bilateral series against England.
The rumours started due to growing political tensions between India and Pakistan, especially after the recent terror incident in Pahalgam. Some reports had linked this situation to India’s possible exit from ACC events.
BCCI made it clear that no talks have been held so far regarding Asia Cup participation. If any such decision is taken in the future, the board will share it through official channels.
