Big Blow to RCB, Josh Hazlewood Ruled Out of Remaining IPL 2025

Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to a shoulder injury, dealing a major blow to RCB’s playoff hopes.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have suffered a big setback ahead of the IPL 2025 playoffs. Their star fast bowler, Josh Hazlewood, has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to a shoulder niggle.

As per a report from ESPN Cricinfo, Hazlewood has flown back to Australia to recover from the injury. He had already missed RCB’s last match against Chennai Super Kings due to the same issue.

The Australian speedster had been on a rehab programme during the IPL, recovering from previous calf and side injuries that had earlier kept him out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the Test series in Sri Lanka. Despite the shoulder concern, he is likely to be picked for Australia’s squad for the World Test Championship final against South Africa, starting June 11 at Lord’s.

Hazlewood was one of RCB’s top performers this season, picking up 18 wickets in just 10 matches. He was also among the top contenders for the Purple Cap.

Other Australian Players in Dilemma

With the World Test Championship final around the corner, more Australian players may skip the rest of the IPL. Pat Cummins and Travis Head, who play for Sunrisers Hyderabad, have only three league matches left. Mitchell Starc’s availability is also in doubt as Delhi Capitals are still in the playoff race.
