MS Dhoni, Jadeja, and Pathirana Responsible for CSK’s Playoff Failure in IPL 2025: RP Singh
Former India cricketer RP Singh blamed MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Matheesha Pathirana for CSK’s early exit from the IPL 2025 playoffs race.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been knocked out of the IPL 2025 playoff race after suffering a four-wicket defeat against Punjab Kings at Chepauk. The five-time champions failed to defend 190 runs, as Punjab chased it down in 19.4 overs to move up to 13 points from 10 matches.
Former India cricketer RP Singh didn’t hold back in his comments. He pointed fingers at CSK captain MS Dhoni, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, and Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana for the team’s poor campaign this season.
“Jadeja has been with CSK for many years, but he didn’t perform when needed. MS Dhoni and the lower order couldn’t finish matches. And Pathirana, instead of taking wickets, bowled too many wide balls,” RP Singh said during the broadcast.
CSK’s Struggles This Season
Chennai began their season well with a win over Mumbai Indians. But after that, things went downhill quickly. They lost five games in a row at their home ground, which used to be their stronghold.
The team failed to show consistency. Batters didn’t score runs regularly, and bowlers performed well only in patches. Noor Ahmad and Khaleel Ahmed started brightly, but their impact faded as the tournament went on.
RP Singh also criticised Shivam Dube, saying:
“Dube’s performance has dropped. Opponents didn’t let him face spinners, and he couldn’t add those important runs in the middle.”
With this defeat, CSK’s hopes of making it to the playoffs are over, leaving their fans disappointed in what has been a forgettable season.
