‘We Can Beat Any Team’ – Aaron Jones Targets India, Australia in T20 World Cup 2024

Aaron Jones opened up on US qualification for Super 8s in T20 World Cup 2024.

The American dream is alive and well in the cricketing world. The USA national team, in their debut appearance at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, has achieved the unthinkable – qualifying for the prestigious Super Eight stage.

While their final group match against Ireland was rained out, victories over Canada and Pakistan secured their historic qualification. Vice-captain Aaron Jones, the hard-hitting US batter believes this is just the beginning for the nation’s cricketing journey.

Ahead to the tournament, Aaron Jones boldly declared that the USA has the talent to upset any team on a good day. Following their qualification, he reiterated that belief.

“Definitely,” Jones said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo, “I believed that when I said it earlier this year. A lot of people don’t take US cricket seriously. The world might not know how much talent we have here. That could be an advantage for us. On any given day, if we play our best cricket, we believe we can beat anyone.”

“We’re incredibly grateful to reach the Super Eights. We came here to play cricket, and while the rain stopped the final match, we’re definitely celebrating. Everyone’s ecstatic right now. Qualifying for this stage is huge.”

Meanwhile, this achievement also guarantees them a spot at the T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
