‘Virat Kohli as Beloved in Pakistan as Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan’ – Rashid Latif
Rashid Latif opened up on Virat Kohli’s popularity in Pakistan.
Former Pakistan cricketers Rashid Latif and Azhar Ali have spoken out about the immense popularity of Indian batter Virat Kohli in Pakistan.
Despite the fierce cricketing competition between the two nations, Kohli enjoys a massive fan following across the border.
Rashid Latif even compared Kohli’s popularity to legendary Bollywood actors like Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, and Shah Rukh Khan.
He pointed out that Pakistan has a history of admiring Indian cricketing heroes, with Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and MS Dhoni also holding iconic status.
“Virat’s popularity in Pakistan is on par with Dilip Saab, Mr. Bachchan, and Shah Rukh,” Latif said. He further elaborated on the mutual respect between the fans, mentioning how Pakistanis idolize Indian cricketers and vice versa.
“Just like you guys loved Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar, here in Pakistan, we adored Gavaskar Saab, Tendulkar, Dhoni, and now Kohli,” he added.
Rashid Latif concluded by acknowledging the strong fan following of other Indian cricketers like Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag in Pakistan, but emphasized that “with Virat, the craze is on another level.”
Virat Kohli will be seen in action against Pakistan on Sunday, June 9 at Nassau County Cricket Stadium, New York. It will be a do-or-die match for the Men in Green.
