IPL 2024: Deepak Chahar Returns to Bowling Ahead of CSK’s Must-Win Match Against RCB
Deepak Chahar is expected to play the virtual knockout match against RCB.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) received a huge boost ahead of their must-win IPL 2024 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with pace spearhead Deepak Chahar returning to net practice on Thursday.
Deepak Chahar‘s return is crucial for the Super Kings, who have been battling injuries throughout the IPL season. He walked off the field after bowling just two deliveries against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 1st.
Chahar bowling in the nets brings much-needed relief to the Super Kings camp. Their pace attack has been severely hurt, especially with Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana returning to Sri Lanka.
Chennai Super Kings Playoffs Scenario
Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad have already secured their places in the playoffs. CSK faces RCB on Saturday, with the winner automatically qualifying for the playoffs.
A loss would leave their fate dependent on net run rate. The team has been experimenting with various pace bowling combinations in Chahar’s absence, including Simarjeet Singh, Richard Gleeson, and Mitchell Santner alongside Tushar Deshpande and Shardul Thakur.
