With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 nearing its climax, all eyes are now on the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, co-hosted by the USA and West Indies. The tournament kicks off on June 2nd, featuring international stars who dazzled in the IPL.
Team India, led by skipper Rohit Sharma, will begin their World Cup campaign on June 5th against Ireland at the newly built Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. This will be followed by the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash on June 9th at the same venue.
Cricket fans eagerly await news on Team India’s departure for the T20 World Cup.
Here’s the Schedule of India’s Departure to USA:
The Indian team will depart for the USA in two batches.
First Batch: The first batch, consisting of players not participating in the IPL 2024 final, is set to leave on May 25th.
Second Batch: Players involved in the IPL final, scheduled for May 26th between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), will depart on May 27th.
This ensures all players get sufficient time to settle in before the tournament commences. Notably, neither KKR nor SRH have any Indian players selected for the T20 World Cup squad. Rinku Singh, the hard-hitting batter is in the reserves and can travel later.
A BCCI source confirmed this two-batch departure plan, stating, “Players like Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, and Axar Patel will join the rest of the team and support staff on May 25th and will leave for New York together.”
Team India, known for their consistent performance in ICC tournaments, is hungry to break their 11-year trophy drought. Their last ICC title win was the Champions Trophy in 2013. The upcoming T20 World Cup presents a golden opportunity for them to rewrite history.
