Current India captain Virat Kohli is considered as one of the best captain and players of the modern-day cricket. He is also the leading run-scorer in T20Is. He has 70 international hundreds in his name and also has several records in all three formats of the game.
Meanwhile, English Test skipper Joe Root considers India Captain, Virat Kohli as ‘the most complete player’ across all formats. He said that Kohli has an all-round game and his ability to chase down totals in white-ball cricket is “extraordinary”.
Root also addressed English player ‘Jos Buttler’ as ‘the most complete white ball batsman’ in the world.
Undoubtedly, India Captain Virat Kohli, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, Australia’s Steve Smith and Joe Root are currently the leading batsmen in world Test Cricket.
“You’re looking at three of the greatest players ( the game has seen,” Root said in an interaction with The Analyst’s Virtual Cricket Club.
“They’re three brilliant people to watch play and learn from. I’m not sure I’d put myself in their bracket, to be honest,” he added.
“Virat is probably the most complete player out of the three of them across formats. His ability to chase things down in the limited-overs format and to pace it as well as he does as often as he does and be not out at the end is extraordinary,” Root said.
“He’s got a very good all-round game but you wouldn’t say he’s weaker against spin or pace,” he added.
Meanwhile, all the four three veterans, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson and Jos Buttler are currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), playing Indian Premier League (IPL 2020).
